Bikram Yoga
Bikram yoga was created by Bikram Choudhury. Bikram yoga consists of 26 postures and two breathing techniques, Ujjayi Breath (the victorious breath) and Kapalabhati (the breath of fire).
Each class in Bikram yoga is strictly scripted and the same 26 asanas are done each time. The class begins with the Ujjayi Breath and some standing postures. The second half of the class is done on the floor and ends with Kapalabhati breath, followed by a brief relaxation.
Unique to Bikram yoga, studio temperatures are kept between 80 and 110 degrees, accompanied by the use of humidifiers. This is why Bikram yoga is also known as "hot yoga."
Bikram Yoga builds strength and stamina but you must already have a certain amount of these qualities to participate in a class.
